charleston…been there?

So…we’ve decided on our second year anniversary destination.

Charleston, South Carolina.

And….that’s about as far as we’ve gotten.

We’re not typically beachy people.

We prefer mountains. And big rocks.

But everyone kept telling us how nice and romantic Charleston was…and it’s within driving distance.

So we’re taking a blind stab in the dark and giving this beachy town a shot.

And last night, Tim was all, “We leave in two weeks…and we haven’t even planned anything…we don’t even KNOW WHAT’S THERE.”

Me: “Well, there’s restaurants and stuff….”

Tim: “And would you like to revisit the round-about conversation that goes something like: I-have-no-idea-where-to-go-just-pick-somewhere-as-long-as-it-isn’t-gross?”

Me: “Ummm….no. The last time that happened, I ended up with a dried out, moldy Wendy’s baked potato…”

SO…INTERNET. I’m doing something I’ve never done before…and I have no idea how willing you are to share your information and tidbits but…

I’m down here, ON MY KNEES, hands in the air, completely at your mercy.

Anyone been to Charleston?

Any ideas?

Places to avoid like the plague?

We’re up for anything….as long as it doesn’t leave us stuck in a dark alley, answering questions about things we didn’t know were illegal in the first place…one of those, “SURE! EVERYONE DOES IT!”

And then they run off and leave you with the evidence.

Yea…none of that.

But anything else…we’re game.

Charleston is a great city! Unfortunately, I can’t remember specific things to do. My aunt & uncle live there and every time we go to visit we spend a lot of time just walking around downtown. It is beautiful and historic and interesting. King Street has great shopping. The whole of downtown has great restaurants. Have a great time!

Forgot – Virginia’s on King Street has pretty good southern style food and Old City Market is fun to walk around!

    Try citydata forums

Also google it and see if they have a visitor’s center. call and speak with someone there to get some ideas of great places to eat while you are there.

I was in Charleston, in the army, but never left the post, so couldn’t say. Plus it was 30 years ago . . .

Thanks for visiting and commenting in my blog.

I’ve never been….but I do know that if you talk to people, they’ll usually help you out. Go to the grocery store and chat with one of the workers to find a great place to eat. Get off the beaten path and just walk around. You’ll find some amazing things and won’t be disappointed!

I have only been to Charleston the one time, but I live just a stone’s throw away. I hear the aquarium is great, they have horsedrawn carriage rides that seem fun, but Waterfront park is beautiful. Enjoy yourself!!
