construction netted me a new windshield

THIS is what I deal with on my way TO and FROM work.

EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

Road 1

Road 2

Construction.  Road Paving Project.

Both directions.

No finish-by date posted ANYWHERE.  So as far as I’m concerned it is like all other Atlanta road projects: to remain unfinished for an indeterminate period of time OR in construction-people speak: until we feel like getting up off our lazy ass to work…because I cannot TELL YOU how many times I have driven by an apparent “construction zone” and saw a guy napping in the comfort of his Caterpillar.

And on the weekends, it gets even better.

The weekends are when lanes are closed and the shoulder (yes, you heard me correctly, the SHOULDER) is open to traffic.

Attention to all those who run out of gas, have a flat tire or need to discipline an unruly child: If you have an emergency, please stop at the nearest ditch.

Oh, and be sure to put on your emergency lights.  Without a beacon, we cannot find you.  And that is your fault.  Not ours.

And because of all of the construction…there are random objects all over the road.  Big ones, small ones…

Ones that do this to your windshield and cost you $500 to repair because your car insurance company decided not to combine your coverage and your husbands coverage but instead kept them SEPARATE and just ATTACHED both to the same policy number.  Apparently standard…but no one bothered to mention it to Those Who Do Not Work In Auto Insurance.

Windshield

And, by the way, no, that is not a unicycle.  It’s a mountain bike, hanging from the garage ceiling, upside down.

Oh,wow. One of our major highways has been closed for over a year now, and I think the completion is still a little over a year away. I live right next to a major on/off ramp, and it has been closed for months. Now, all the traffic has been diverted to our little residential street. How fun!
