green thumb

I don’t know why I have a desire to attempt to keep a plant alive.  It never works.  We had three mini-pine trees from our wedding.  Three.  All dead.  I tried basil…currently the leaves are about a centimeter wide, instead of the full blossoms we had in the beginning, and the stem is so droopy that I have to prop it up on itself.

I tried a hydrangea.  I bought it and it was beautiful.  A bright, brilliant pink with three full stems of flowers.  It looked promising so I thought why not?

The leaves are currently turning brown at the edges and pieces are starting to fall off.  Not a good sign.

I think I’ve given up on the whole idea of having a beautiful garden with lots of pretty flowers and vegetables and fruit.  It just isn’t going to happen for me.  I don’t have the gift.  The green thumb.

Tim, on the other hand, is like the Plant Whisperer.  Last year he transported what we presumed was a dead azalea bush outside – it was all brown, no green to be found, the limbs were brittle and breaking and I wanted to throw it out.  But Tim, plant miracle man, wanted to give it just one more chance… and this spring it grew flowers.

What the hell?
